GMC Poetry: Ereshkigal Acrostic

Eternally She dwells in the Great Below

Raging and wrathful when rightful boundaries are crossed

Enki’s twin, death and decay to mirror His creation

She weeps for the infant dead, who never knew life, for She is the Great Mourner

Hard-hearted they call Her, for killing Her sister Inanna

Kurgarra and galatur showed Her compassion by crying with Her

Irkalla’s Queen in gratitude granted them any boon they wished, and

Gave them the rotting corpse of Her sister Inanna as they asked.

Arise Inanna did, fed the Bread of Life, and went above to much celebration —

Lonely is the job of shepherding the Dead, no matter which pantheon You hail from.
